We do believe that education is the only way out of poverty. Millions of children globally cannot attend school because their families live below the poverty line. When families have to choose between sending their child to school or providing other basic needs, education is not a priority.
Also, lack of access to education is a major predictor of passing poverty from one generation to the next. In other words, poverty leads to lack of education and lack of education leads to poverty.
By supporting family businesses and locals directly during our trips, we help them break the vicious cycle of poverty. A bunch of bananas from a local grocery, a lunch in a small family restaurant, a stay in a community-run lodge, a bracelet made by a woman in a village can be translated to school fees for the family’s children.
Isn’t it great to know that your travel money support one child’s education?
